Bunkermuseum Antwerp

The role and toll of Antwerp in W.W.2.

During W.W.2 in and around the Antwerp parc "Den Brandt" the headquarters of the German 89th Army Corps was established, responsible for the defence of the Atlantikwall in Belgium and Zeeland.

Now this listed bunker village is a museum where in addition to the Atlantikwall also the V-weapons on Antwerp are given attention.

The non-profit organisation Bunkermuseum Antwerp invites you to come and discover up to 3 different bunker types during our monthly opening, a guided tour on request or one of our special events.

“Wer zahlt das Geld für Hitler und seine Kompanie? Das sind die Großprofitler der Kanonenindustrie.”

“Who pays the money for Hitler and his company? They are the big profiteers from the canon industry.”
(1932)
Erich Weinert

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense,

a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.
(16.4.1953)

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex.

The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes.

We should take nothing for granted.

Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals,

so that security and liberty may prosper together.

(17.1.1961)
