75 Years Human Rights.

Today, on the 75th anniversary of the Declaration of Universal Human Rights, a new peace monument was inaugurated in the National Memorial Fort of Breendonk. Breendonk itself is of course a most powerful monument to reinforce the message that was put on paper 75 years ago. Although the declaration may often seem meaningless if it cannot be enforced by a power, it should never be forsaken as an individual compass. Breendonk's story, even after the German occupation, is proof of this sometimes difficult but always necessary task.

By initiative of the National Combattant Federation Belgium a new monument with a peace dove was installed on the grounds and revealed today by the national president and the mayor of Willebroek.

With the Bunkermuseum Antwerp we try to keep the memory of history and its important lessons alive, few seem more important than those which inspired the declaration 75 years ago.
