The temporary mini-exhibition “Antwerp, city of sudden death” about the V2 impact in Steenbergstraat will open soon.
Many visitors to the Bunker Museum Antwerp are familiar with this disaster on January 16, 1945 by seeing the gravestone of one of the 58 fatalities, Paula Impens, about which you can read more at our V2 page.
You can visit the exhibition freely or book a guided tour, for this and all information you can visit www.antwerpx.be.
On weekends from mid to late October you can visit from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Schools or other interested parties for whom the weekend is not suitable can always submit a request for a visit during the week via the contact form.
Proud to have provided some inspiration for the initiative we wish Filip the best of luck and hope to see you all there!
Update!
With the first weekend behind us we can share some photos of the mini-exposition, some visitors who recently also visited the Bunker Museum Antwerp declared it an excellent addition. Using original objects, the guide Erik Bogaert delves deeper into themes such as the liberation, but also the origins of rocket technology, the V2 that resulted from it and its consequences for the Antwerp residents and emergency services in the hellish V-weapon period.
We can recommend the guided tour which starts every 2 hours. Erik doesn't give himself much rest in between so be prepared for a deep dive into history, seating is provided in every room or added where and when it should be requested.
Click here for a short story by local station ATV and here to view on which days and hours there are still spots available.
In addition to some pieces from the collection of the Bunker Museum Antwerp, our curator will also be present. He will answer any questions from people who visit the exhibition on their own, or to learn from something that they can contribute to both projects of course.
We hope to see many of our visitors again at the exposition during the last 2 weekends, see you there or at the museum!
